Michael Jackson Justice: Michael Jackson and the Northern Songs Part 1

God: Reconnect to Him

The Conspiracy against God is about "The Word", and the profaning of His Holy Name within us. Adam fell in the garden, breaking the direct connection to God. Jesus, the "last Adam" was a quickening Spirit, the Word made Flesh, and the only one with whom we can re-establish our relationship with God. Michael's story is still unfolding. He is the one who is, is not. But Jesus is the only name given under heaven by which we must be saved. Many are trying to rewrite HIStory. We were given a help to instruct us. Learn more "here".

Michael Jackson and the Northern Songs Part 1

January 24, 2011 –
Michael Jackson and the Northern Songs
The Murder of the King of Pop Part 1

One of the hardest things for me to come to terms with, is the viciousness in which Michael Jackson was attacked on all fronts.

They tried to tear him down through his character first, through the press and the first set of allegations, which by far is the most painful; Especially when all he has ever done is live for others.

Then they tried to tear him down through his reputation using professional oppression.  This is akin to trying to stuff an artist into a box he does not want to go into. When that didn’t work, they again they tried to overwhelm him by trying to outflank him.  They did this through a series of lawsuits, press rumors and infighting amongst his inner circle, just as the different TINI facebook groups have tried to do to fans as they sought answers.

Finally, they began having an affect financially, so they went on the attack via a documentary, and a second round of accusations from yet another child he tried to help.  While in preparation to defend himself on those charges, they moved in, both on the financial front and through the press.  They piled on him.

Yet each time, Michael was somehow able to evade and protect.

Through all this unprecedented persecution of a man who really had done nothing more than give, the one question keeps surfacing.

Why?

What was to be gained?

Was it really a music catalog?  Was that it?

What was so different about this catalog, that the other collections of music rights didn’t warrant the same rabid and intense coveting?

I want to look a bit more closely at the history of the Beatles and their music, but before we begin jumping down this rabbit hole (doesn’t that expression draw intrigue?), I would like you to read something:

RECENT  VIRGINIA CHURCH SERVICE  - STIMULUS SERMON
Genesis  47:13-27          I would  love to give the Pastor of  this predominantly  black church in Virginia a hug  and a high five. This guy is obviously a  leader. Perhaps we should each  decide who our real leader  is.....Very little has changed in 4,000  years.

 ---------------------------------------------------

Good  morning, brothers and  sisters;

It's  always a delight to see the pews crowded on  Sunday morning, and so eager to get  into God's Word.  Turn  with me in your Bibles, if you will to the  47th chapter of Genesis,  we'll begin our reading at verse 13, and  go through verse  27.

Brother  Ray, would you stand and read that great passage  for us? .....(reading)...

Thank  you for that fine reading, Brother  Ray.

So we  see that economic hard times  fell upon  Egypt , and the people turned  to the government of  Pharaoh to deal with this for them.  And  Pharaoh
nationalized the grain  harvest, and placed the grain in great  storehouses that he had  built.

So the  people brought their money to Pharaoh,
like  a great tax increase,  and gave it all to him willingly in return for  grain.  And this went on until  their money ran out, and they were hungry again.

So when  they went to Pharaoh after that, they brought  their livestock -their  cattle, their horses, their sheep, and their  donkey -
to barter for grain,  and verse 17 says that only took them through the end of that  year.

But the  famine wasn't over, was it?  So the next  year, the people came before Pharaoh  and admitted
they had nothing left,  except their land and their  own lives. "There is nothing left in the sight of my lord but our  bodies and our land.  Why should we die  before your eyes, both we and our land?  Buy us and our land for food,  and we with our land will be servants to  Pharaoh."

So  they surrendered their  homes, their land, and their real estate  to Pharaoh's government,  and then sold themselves into  slavery to him in return  for  grain.

What can  we learn from this, brothers and  sisters?  That turning to the  government instead of to God to be our  provider in hard times only  leads to slavery?  Yes.. That the only  reason government wants to be  our provider is to also become our  master?  Yes.

But  look how that passage ends, brothers and  sisters!

Thus Israel settled in  the land of Egypt, in the  land  of  Goshen .  And they  gained possessions in it, and  were fruitful and multiplied greatly."  God provided for His  people, just as He always has!  They didn't  end up giving all their  possessions to government, no, it says they  gained possessions!  But I also tell you a  great truth today, and an  ominous one.

We see  the same thing happening today - the government  today wants to "share the  wealth" once again, to take it from us and  redistribute it back to us.   It wants to take control of healthcare,  just as it has taken control of education,  and ration it back to us, and when government rations it, then  government decides who gets it, and how much,  and what kind.  And if we go along with it, and do it willingly,  then we will wind up no differently than the people of Egypt did four thousand  years ago - as slaves to the  government, and as slaves to our  leaders.

You See It Happening – Haven’t You Had Enough?
What Do We Think This Song Was About?
Michael, thank you for this song.

The Bible is not just a religious work.  It is not just about God and his love for his creation.  It is a textbook of history and if we don’t learn it, we are doomed to repeat it as was done many times in that book.

The Northern Songs

The ATV Catalog was tracked from the time Michael bought it in 1985, on this blog update, Sony/ATV and Michael through 2005, and “Follow the ATV and the Money Will Come…”.  We never followed the most valuable and sought after catalog WITHIN that catalog, which was “The Northern Songs”.

In 1985 when Michael purchased the ATV catalog, it contained the “The Northern Songs”.  John Branca is the one that alerted Michael to that fact.

“In June 1985, Jackson and Branca learned that Charles Koppelman's and Marty Bandier's The Entertainment Co. had made a tentative agreement with Holmes à Court to buy the catalog for $50 million. But in early August, Holmes à Court's team contacted Jackson again. Both sides made concessions.  Jackson raised his bid to $47.5 million and agreed to appear on a telethon.”

 - Before that, Jackson sent a bid of $46 million to Holmes à Court on November 20, 1984.

 - Jackson was first informed that ATV music was being sold in September 1984 by Branca.  The package also included buildings, a recording studio, some studio equipment and life insurance policies on the Beatles (presumably ATV collected Lennon's in 1980)

 - Before that, In 1982, Robert Holmes à Court acquired Associated Communications Corporation, the holding company of ATV Music and put ATV Music up for sale in 1984.  According to Bert Reuter, who negotiated the sale for Holmes à Court, "we had given Paul McCartney first right of refusal but Paul didn't want it at that time

 - Further back, In 1981, Paul McCartney attempted to make a joint purchase of the ATV music catalog with Yoko Ono.  Ono thought they could buy it for half the price being offered and he agreed to see what could be done about that.  McCartney then let the deal fall through when they were not able to make the joint acquisition.

 - Before 1981, Early in 1969, James and Silver abruptly sold their shares in Northern Songs to Britain's Associated TeleVision (ATV), giving the Beatles no notice, or the chance to buy them out. (Lennon learned of the sale from a morning newspaper during his honeymoon with Yoko Ono, and immediately called McCartney).  Lennon and McCartney, upset that the songs they had written were not theirs legally, attempted to gain ownership of the publishing rights.  Their bid to gain control, part of a long and acrimonious fight, failed.  Source

The Beatles
Michael, Latoya and Paul McCartney

There was apparently some fighting over the “Northern Songs” catalog before Michael.  At the same Wikipedia source above:

‘The financial clout of Lew Grade, their adversary in the bidding war, ensured that the music written by the two Beatles passed into the control of ATV.

A block of investors who owned a small but crucial percentage of shares was lobbied by both sides to sell out or cooperate with them ultimately to take control of Northern Songs. During negotiations, Lennon made an understandable, but ill-timed and poorly worded, comment expressing his disdain for businessmen trying to influence his creative output — "I'm sick to death of being f*ed about by men in suits sitting on their fat arses in the City!" — which threw the investors to ATV's side.

Lennon and McCartney were legally bound under their publishing contract with Northern Songs to continue their songwriting until 1973. The simplest way out, if they couldn't gain control, was to also sell out to ATV, while keeping the writer's royalties from their contracted songs. Lennon and McCartney sold their stock (Lennon his 15%, McCartney's portion slightly higher, since he himself bought additional shares) in October 1969 for £3.5 million. Harrison and Starr chose to keep their shares.

So now one has to ask, did they get the same railroad treatment that Michael got once he obtained these songs?  If so, Why?

From Wikipedia – “Rooted in skiffle and 1950s rock and roll, the group later worked in many genres ranging from folk rock to psychedelic rock, often incorporating classical and other elements in innovative ways.”

Interesting, “Moulded into a professional outfit by music store owner Brian Epstein after he offered to act as the group's manager, and with their musical potential enhanced by the creativity of producer George Martin, The Beatles achieved mainstream success in the United Kingdom in late 1962 with their first single, "Love Me Do".

Who is Brian Epstein?

“In 1961 Brian Epstein found that he had been selling a number of records by The Beatles, and he went to see them at The Cavern club. Afterwards he went to speak to them and offered to manage them. On 10th. December 1961 it was decided that Brian Epstein should be the manager of The Beatles, and a contract was signed on 24th. January, 1962. He secured a record contract for them with EMI.”  Source

The Beatles first came to the U.S. and was introduced to American Audiences first through news coverage of the hysteria in the U.K., then by to American audiences through the television set on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Who Knew It Would Come To This…

Ed Sullivan –

“In late 1963, Sullivan and his entourage happened also to be passing through Heathrow and witnessed how The Beatles' fans greeted the group on their return from Stockholm, where they had performed a television show as warmup band to local star Lill Babs. Sullivan was intrigued, telling his entourage it was the same thing as Elvis all over again. He initially offered Beatles manager Brian Epstein top dollar for a single show but the Beatles manager had a better idea—he wanted exposure for his clients: the Beatles would instead appear three times on the show, at bottom dollar, but receive top billing and two spots (opening and closing) on each show.”  Source – At least, that is the publicized version of the story.

Most everyone here remembers the sounds of the Beatles and their early works.  “Love, Love me Do”, “I Wanna Hold Your Hand”, “Hard Days’ Night”.  The Righteous Brothers they were NOT!  They stunk!  They weren’t even cute! (except maybe Paul).  How in the world did they get so popular?  What kind of marketing anomaly took place?

In the next few blog updates, much of what you have already witnessed is going to start making a lot of sense.  The orchestration of the ownership of the “Northern” songs and the ATV catalog, the persecution and almost diabolical destruction of his character, his career and his life as the “King of Pop.”

Michael Jackson had always been a strong advocate for children. Was it just his own missing childhood or a higher calling?

Michael’s “Thiller Album” is the top selling album of all time.  However, in further albums and notably “Invincible”, Sony slammed the promotional door in his face.  While all this was going on, the cusp of another vicious character assassination was in the works.  The crime?  Pedophilia.  In this case it wasn’t a crime committed but a tool.

Michael’s faith-driven lyrics, his unabashed witnessing for Christ, his enormous popularity and finally his death are all going to start to make sense.

I hope I can do this justice.  You might need some note paper and something to write with.  You might consider something to drink and munch on some nights and perhaps a box of Kleenex now and then.

Michael became increasingly vocal in his music against the establishment, while at the same time recognizing the tools the establishment was aiming and using on our youth.  Somewhere among the battles, Michael came to the realization of what he was going to have to do.  It is in his lyrics.

Let’s sit back and read this story together . . .

  1. Bonnie – I am always interested to know about the Northern Songs. Thank you for bringing it up. I am going to continue reading but I want to say this first.

You said, “the government today wants to "share the wealth" once again, to take it from us and redistribute it back to us.” What I also have seen is those multibillion dollar Big Corporations infiltrated in our government through our elected officials and running the country from top to bottom living the middle class and the poor jobless without hope to hold on.

The funny thing is they themselves, big corporations, turn around and telling us through the mouth pieces of elected officials to divert our attention that the government is “redistributing the wealth” so they can create division among the masses of the people so they can accumulate wealth on the hand of the few. What I mean is Big Corporations run the country through our elected officials who work for them day in day out brainwashing us saying the government is doing this and doing that to hurt people while they are the government themselves. How funny is that? Very funny.

    >>> Actually, I didn't say that, the minister I quoted did, but I agree with him.

We are going to start connecting some dots and during this connecting, we're going to see just how easy it was for them to surround Michael.

Michael said conspiracy. He also said there was a big fight over that catalog. But everyone fighting for it weren't bad guys and he was one of them. Michael wasn't concerned about the catalog itself, but what they wanted to use it for.

When we get through this, you are going to look at many of his songs in a different light.

Dear Bonnie, you have pointed out three things about Michael, I would say the most 'important. Michael has many fans around the world who love him even more 'after his death. I am sure that sooner or later the truth 'will' proved to the world.
I am confident, the world is not only bad but also people who will do only good and he loves Michael. Money and power are not everything.
    God Bless you Michael.

  4. Hello, Bonnie :)

Can I say that I am glad that you are tackling the Northern Songs Catalogue. I, too, think that it is very important carrot that everyone salivates over. I have read about the backstabbing and viciousness that ensued over this very catalogue. Cannot wait to see what you uncover.

Take care, Bonnie. These people are vicious. Love and Light♥

    >>> I agree with you and you are right. Money and power are not everything and the 'bad people' behind this are going to find that out.

    >>> What is more amazing to me is the timing of all this and the timing of Michael and some of his songs and the whole "Invincible" album.

I will take care, and thank you for the sentiment. I still say the protection prayer before I start this during the day and in the evening when I turn it off. ♥♥♥

  6. Bonnie – I am so sorry and apologize for quoting someone else’s statement as if you said it. it was a big error in my part. I have to be careful not being emotional talking about government corruption.

Thank you for educating those of us who have no idea what was going on concerning the Northern Songs being sold to “Britain's Associated TeleVision (ATV), giving the Beatles no notice, or the chance to buy them out.” What I am realizing is abusing and denying the ownership of the artists creative talents is a generational phenomenon that has deep history.

I want to add one more question to what you said, “How in the world did they get so popular? What kind of marketing anomaly took place?” What is in their songs that everyone fighting for to the point of persecuting Michael to his demise?

    >>> Oh, I'm not upset about that! Please don't worry about that. I was just pointing that out so someone didn't think I was going to take credit for that :o)

You said - "What is in their songs that everyone fighting for to the point of persecuting Michael to his demise?"

    >>> What is in their songs is already out there. When we get a bit further into the history of the Beatles you will see. It's not just the Beatles, but they were the "beginning of the end" so to speak. We will get to that. Hold on to that thought.

  8. I agree with you about that pastor, Bonnie. We should all be so aware. What makes these times we are living in different is technology, it is very much being used against us.

Michael was marching 'point' for all of us in We've Had Enough. He took the heat for ALL OF HUMANITY while also defending ALL OF NATURE!

It's interesting that you say the Beatles "stunk" and yet they were elevated to the pinnacle of success.

  9. Hello Bonnie, Yes, I too agree with the statement above “the government today wants to "share the wealth" once again, to take it from us and redistribute it back to us.”

I want and need to know all the connections (understanding the big picture) to the dreadful demise of Michael Jackson....who just as you said - "Through all this unprecedented persecution of a man who really had done nothing more than give, the one question keeps surfacing."

I truly feel Michael's sole purpose to owning the catalogue was purely for the reason of protection of the artists involved. Michael being an artist himself, knew how artists are treated in the industry. I feel for him, it wasn't so much as the actual investment, but more for the protection of the artists in the catalogue. It rips me apart to think that what he wanted was for the good of the artists, and what he got in return was everything you wrote about above, starting especially when he purchased the catalogue and just as you said, lead to "the persecution and almost diabolical destruction of his character, his career and his life as the “King of Pop."

I respect what you are saying so very much Bonnie. I thank you with all of my heart.

    Leslie

  10. P.S. I truly feel you and I think the exact same way regarding the purpose of Michael finally acquiring the catalogue....As you and I know, it is natural for Michael to want to try to help and do good for anyone he can possibly do good for...and by owning the catalogue he could help the artists keep their personal rights over their own work...by what I think allowing the artists to have more choice in what happens with their music, not what corporates want to do with the artist's music.
